The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.

Condition/Concern:

Some 2004-05 Buick Rendezvous/Pontiac Aztek customers may report that their fuel and/or temperature gauge fluctuates erratically. Engineering has determined that vehicles may have the incorrect IPC calibration.

Recommendation/Instructions:

Vehicles equipped with a LY7 3.6L engine can order a replacement cluster which can be obtained from their local Authorized Electronic Service Center or Specmo Enterprises in Madison Heights, Michigan. Specmo's telephone numbers are (248) 307-2570 or (800) 545-7911.

Vehicles equipped with a LA1 3.4L engine should not replace the cluster for erratic fuel gage. Verify the operation under similar operating conditions with a like vehicle to validate this as a normal condition. If the customer is unhappy with this explanation and the complaint can be duplicated contact technical assistance for possible additional repairs.

Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
