Rear Side Door Molding Replacement Aztek

Tools Required

J 25070 Heat Gun

Removal Procedure

  1. Open the rear door.

  2. Object Number: 618051  Size: SH
  3. Remove the screws from the rear edge of the rear door body side molding.

  4. Object Number: 621055  Size: SH
  5. Use a heat gun J 25070 .

  6. Object Number: 621057  Size: SH

    Notice: Use a plastic, flat-bladed tool to prevent paint damage when removing an emblem/name plate.

  7. Use a plastic, flat-bladed tool to remove the upper edge of the rear door body side molding from the surface.

  8. Object Number: 621102  Size: SH
  9. Pull the upper edge of the rear door body side molding out, to release the retainers.
  10. Remove the rear door body side molding from the door.

  11. Object Number: 618049  Size: SH

    Caution: Wear safety glasses in order to avoid eye damage.

  12. Drill a small hole into the center of the center retainer pins of the lower support retainer.

  13. Object Number: 618048  Size: SH
  14. Install a small screw into the hole in the center retainer pin.

  16. Remove the center retainer pin using small pliers and pulling out the center retainer pin.

  18. Remove the rear door body side molding lower support from the door.

  19. Object Number: 622293  Size: SH
  20. Drill a small hole into the center of the center retainer pins of the rear support retainer.

  21. Object Number: 622290  Size: SH
  22. Install a small screw into the hole in the center retainer pin.

  23. Object Number: 622289  Size: SH
  24. Remove the center retainer pin using small pliers and pulling out the center retainer pin.

  26. Remove the rear door body side molding rear support from the door.

  27. Object Number: 321645  Size: SH
  28. Remove all adhesive from the rear door body panel using 3M™ ScotchBrite molding adhesive remover disk 3M™ P/N 07501 or equivalent.
  29. Clean the rear door panel surface using Varnish Makers and Painters (VMP) naphtha and allow to air dry.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 622282  Size: SH
  1. Position the lower support retainer with the notch down and the retainers to the holes in the door panel.

  2. Object Number: 622269  Size: SH
  3. Install in the center pins of the retainers using a small hammer.

  4. Object Number: 626952  Size: SH
  5. Position the lower support retainer with the notch down and the retainers to the holes in the door panel.

  6. Object Number: 622284  Size: SH
  7. Install in the center pins of the retainers using a small hammer.

  8. Object Number: 621060  Size: SH
  9. Use a heat gunJ 25070 .
  10. Position the lower flange of the rear door body side molding to the retainer support and align the tab to the notch in the retainer support.
  11. Important: Do not touch the adhesive backing on the molding.

  12. Remove the protective liner from the back side of the door body side molding.
  13. Position the upper edge of the rear door body side molding retainer clips to the holes in the door panel.
  14. Install the retainer clips to the door panel by pressing in until fully seated.
  15. Install the upper edge of the rear door body side molding by applying pressure to the entire length of the molding starting at the center and working outward to ensure a maximum bond to the door panel.

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  17. Install the screws to the rear edge of the rear door body side molding.
  18. Tighten
    Tighten the screws to 6 N·m (53 lb in).

  19. Close the rear door.
