Installation Procedure

  1. If replacing the evaporator core, add the specified amount of PAG oil directly to the evaporator core. Refer to Refrigerant System Capacities .
  2. Using a lint-free clean, dry cloth, carefully clean the sealing surfaces of the A/C refrigerant line and the A/C refrigerant component.
  3. Important: Flat washer type seals do not require lubrication.

  4. Carefully slide the sealing washers onto the evaporator line until seated.

  5. Object Number: 791147 Size: SH
  6. Install the TXV to the evaporator core.
  7. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  8. Install the TXV mounting screws.
  9. Tighten
Tighten the screws to 3.2 N·m (28 lb in).

    Object Number: 825391 Size: SH

Important: The evaporator temperature sensor must be located in the same position on the new evaporator core.

  10. The evaporator temperature sensor should be approximately 3.5 cm (1.4 in) from the side and 5.0 cm (2.0 in) from the bottom corner of the evaporator core.
  11. Install the evaporator temperature sensor.

  12. Object Number: 295362 Size: SH

Important: Align the evaporator temperature sensor wires with the opening in the upper HVAC module case. Improper alignment will pinch and/or cut the sensor wires.
