Subject: | Underhood Insulation Flaps at Highway Speed (Replace Hood Pad) |
Models: | 2001 Pontiac Aztek |
Some customers may comment that the underhood insulation pad may flap at highway speeds. This movement of the hood pad may be audible in the passenger compartment.
The area of the front end near the styled "intake" slots permits sufficient air flow to the underhood area causing the forward edge of the hood pad material to weaken and flap.
Replace the hood pad with a revised hood pad, P/N 10308029, that is shorter with the forward edge tucked into a recess in the hood.
Important: When installing the new pad, you may have to bend the retaining tabs slightly to obtain clearance to install the insulator. Do not bend the tabs any more than is required to install the insulator. Confirm that the tabs are bent back to the original position once the insulator is installed.
