Condition
Some customers may comment that the rear lift gate will not come off the secondary latch position when opened automatically.
Cause
The striker or latch may be mis-positioned or an over slam bumper may be missing.
Correction
Inspect the rear lift gate for the presence of an over slam bumper. If missing, install a new bumper into the bracket approximately two turns (see figure).
Inspect the striker-to-latch alignment.
| • | The latch has fore and aft adjustment and side to side. |
| • | The striker has side to side adjustment. |
If the condition still exists after completing the above steps, inspect for possible weak struts.
