RADIO REMAINS ON AND BATTERY GOES DEAD

VEHICLES AFFECTED: 1986 Pontiac 6000 'STE'

CONDITION:

---------- The radio in the 1986 6000 STE remains on (Audio is slight), the power antenna remains up, and the battery may become drained.

CAUSE:

----- The condition is caused by the radio internal power-up relay contacts remaining closed.

CORRECTION:

---------- The radio can be shut off by either cycling the ignition 'off' and 'on' several times or by cycling the radio power button several times. Have the radio serviced by an authorized Delco Electronics Service Centre as soon as possible.

Radios built after V.I.N. G9247348 (November 15, 1985) have been corrected. These radios are identified with a pink dot by the serial number and a white dot with pink by the date code on the radio heat sink.
