INSTRUMENT PANEL SQUEAK OR ITCHING TYPE NOISE

VEHICLES AFFECTED: 1985-86 Oldsmobile Cutlass Ciera and Cutlass Cruiser

A squeak or itching type noise may be noticed in the instrument panel area on subject models. This noise may be caused by the cluster trim plate contacting the cluster lens and/or radio face plate. This condition can be corrected by using the following procedure:

1. Remove cluster trim plate.

2. Examine back of cluster trim plate for the area(s) that are contacting the cluster lens and/or radio face plate (these contact areas will be shiny in appearance).

3. Apply a 6mm (1/4 inch) wide by 25mm (1 inch) long strip of double sided tape to cluster trim plate contact area(s).

4. Reinstall cluster trim plate.
