1985-87 6000 MODELS WITH REAR DRUM BRAKES

Under certain conditions of snow, temperature and vehicle operation; some rear brake drum cavities may become impacted with snow. When parked for extended periods of time at freezing temperatures, the impacted snow may freeze preventing the wheel from rotating.

New rear brake backing plates have been released for service that will help prevent snow from entering the brake drum cavity. The new backing plates are directly interchangeable with the original plates and are designed to function with the original brake drums and components. Refer to the applicable service manual for installation instructions.

Part Number - 18014157 (includes both backing plates)

General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
