Some 1986-1989 Toronado vehicles equipped with a center console may experience a condition where the coin/cup holder binds or requires excessive effort to operate. This condition may be caused by any of the following:
- Interference of the coin/cup holder with console wiring.
- Distorted coin/cup mounting plate.
- Defective coin/cup mounting plate.
To repair this condition use the following procedure:
1. Remove console trim plate.
2. Remove shift indicator assembly.
3. Remove coin/cup mounting plate assembly.
4. Refer to trouble tree. (Figure 1)
