J 37043 Park Brake Cable Release Tool

1. Release the park brake.
2. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.



3. Loosen the park brake cable equalizer nut in order to remove the park brake left side cable from the park brake equalizer.



4. Remove the park brake cable from the park brake cable connector.
5. Remove the tire and wheel. Refer to Wheel Removal in Tires and Wheels.
6. Remove the brake drum. Refer to Brake Drum Replacement in Drum Brakes.
7. Remove the park brake cable from the park brake actuator.



8. Use the J 37043 in order to remove the park brake cable from the backing plate.

1. Install the park brake cable to the backing plate.
2. Install the park brake cable to the park brake actuator.
3. Install the tire and wheel. Refer to Wheel Installation in Tires and Wheels.
4. Install the brake drum. Refer to Brake Drum Replacement in Drum Brakes.



5. Install the park brake cable to the park brake cable connector.



6. Install the park brake left side cable to the park brake equalizer.
7. Adjust the park brake cable. Refer to Park Brake Cable Service/Adjustment .
8. Lower the vehicle.
