Does the speedometer and the odometer operate normally?

Refer to Driver Information Center (DIC) Switch Inoperative - English/Metric

  1. Disconnect the ambient air temperature sensor connector.
  2. Using a J 39200 digital multimeter (DMM), measure the resistance across the ambient air temperature sensor terminals at two different temperatures.
  3. Compare these readings to those in the Ambient Air Temperature Sensor Resistance table.

Are the resistance readings within specifications?

Replace the ambient air temperature sensor. Refer to Ambient Air Temperature Gage Sensor Replacement .

Has the repair been made and the system rechecked?

--

System OK

--

  1. Disconnect the driver information display connector.
  2. Disconnect the powertrain control module (PCM) connector C1.
  3. Using a J 39200 DMM, check for continuity between the driver information display harness connector terminal 9 and the PCM harness connector C1 terminal 55.

Is the CKT 389 continuous between these components?

Go to Step 6

Repair poor connection or open in CKT 389 between the driver information display harness connector terminal 9 and the PCM harness connector C1 terminal 55.

Has the repair been made and the system rechecked?

Replace the driver information display. Refer to Driver Information Center Replacement .
