Setting the Clock for Systems without Automatic Tone Control

Perform the following procedure in order to set the clock for the Chevrolet and Oldsmobile vehicle:

  1. Press SET.
  2. SET will appear on the display for 5 seconds.

  3. Within 5 seconds, press and hold the right arrow on the SEEK button, until the correct minute appears.
  4. Press and hold the left arrow on the SEEK button until the correct hour appears.

Setting the Clock for Systems with Automatic Tone Control

Perform the following procedure in order to set the clock for the Chevrolet and Oldsmobile vehicle:

  1. Press and hold HR until the correct hour appears.
  2. Press and hold MN until the correct minute appears.

VOLUME

This knobs turns the system on and off and controls the volume. Turn the knob to the right in order to perform the following functions:

    • Turn the radio on.
    • Increase the volume.

Turn the knob to the left in order to perform the following functions:

    • Decrease the volume.
    • Turn the radio off.

RECALL

This knob displays the time with the ignition off by pressing the RECALL knob. Press this button in order to recall the station frequency when the radio is playing.

Finding a Station

AM-FM

Press the lower knob in order to switch between AM and FM. The display shows the selection.

TUNE

Turn the lower knob in order to select the radio stations.

SEEK

Press the right arrow or the left arrow in order to go to the next higher or the next lower station and remain there.

SCAN

Press both SEEK arrows. SCAN will appear on the display. Use SCAN in order to listen to the stations for a few seconds. The radio will perform the following steps:

  1. The radio will go to a station.
  2. Stop for a few seconds.
  3. Go on to the next station.

The radio will scan up or down the radio band, depending on the arrow you pressed first. Press both SEEK arrows or the upper knob in order to stop scanning.

Pushbuttons

The 4 numbered pushbuttons allow you to return to your desired stations. You may set up to 14 stations (7 AM stations and 7 FM stations).

  1. Turn the radio to the ON position.
  2. Press AM-FM in order to select the band.
  3. Turn to the desired station.
  4. Press SET.
  5. SET will appear on the display.

  6. Press and hold 1 of the 4 numbered buttons within 5 seconds.
  7. The sound will mute.

  8. When the sound returns, release the button.
  9. Whenever you press this numbered button, the station that you have set will return.

  10. Repeat the steps for each pushbutton.

In addition to the 4 stations already preset, 3 more stations may be preselected on each band by pressing 2 adjoining buttons at the same time.

Follow this procedure in order to preset 3 more stations on each band:

  1. Tune in the desired station.
  2. Press SET.
  3. SET will appear on the display.

  4. Within 5 seconds, press any 2 adjoining pushbuttons at the same time.
  5. The sound will mute.

  6. When the sound returns, release the buttons.
  7. Whenever you press the same buttons, the station that you have set will return.
  8. Repeat the steps for each pair of pushbuttons.

Setting the Tone

BASS

Slide the lever up or down in order to increase or decrease bass.

TREB

Slide the lever up or down in order to increase or decrease treble. You may want to decrease the treble if a station is weak or noisy.

Adjusting the Speakers

BAL

Turn the control behind the lower knob in order to move the sound to the front speakers or the rear speakers. The middle position balances the sound between the speakers.

FADE

Turn the control behind the lower knob in order to move the sound to the front speakers or the rear speakers. The middle position balances the sound between the speakers.

Setting the Clock for AM-FM Stereo

Perform the following procedure in order to set the clock for the Pontiac vehicle:

  1. Press SET.
  2. Within 5 seconds, press and hold the SEEK down arrow until the correct hour appears on the display.
  3. Press and hold the SEEK up arrow until the correct minute appears on the display.

Setting the Clock for all Systems except AM-FM Stereo

Perform the following procedure in order to set the clock for the Pontiac vehicle:

  1. Press and hold the HR button until the correct hour appears.
  2. Press and hold MIN until the correct minute appears.
  3. There will be a 2 second delay before the clock goes into time-set mode. The color on the display will blink while in this mode.

PWR-VOLUME

This knob turns the system on and off and controls the volume. Turn the knob to the right in order to turn the radio on and to increase the volume. Turn the knob to the left in order to decrease the volume, and to turn the radio to the OFF position.

RCL

Press this knob in order to perform one of the following actions:

    • Recall the station being played.
    • Display the clock.

AM-FM

Press this button in order to switch between AM and FM. The display shows the selection.

TUNE

Turn the lower knob in order to choose the radio station.

SEEK

Press the up or down arrow in order to go to the next higher or the next lower station and stay there.

PUSHBUTTONS

The 4 numbered pushbuttons allow you to return to the desired station. You may set up to 14 stations (7 AM and 7 FM).

Perform the following procedure in order to preset up to 14 stations:

  1. Turn the radio to the ON position.
  2. Press AM-FM in order to select the band.
  3. Tune to the desired station.
  4. Press SET.
  5. SET will appear on the display.

  6. Press 1 of the 4 numbered pushbuttons within 5 seconds.
  7. Whenever you press that numbered pushbutton, the station you set will return.

  8. Repeat the steps for each pushbutton.

In addition to the 4 stations already set, 3 more stations may be preset on each band by pressing 2 adjoining buttons at the same time.

Perform the following procedure in order to set up to 3 more stations:

  1. Tune to the desired station.
  2. Press SET.
  3. SET will appear on the display.

  4. Press any 2 adjoining pushbuttons at the same time within 5 seconds.
  5. Whenever you press the same buttons, the station you set will return.

  6. Repeat the steps for each pair of pushbuttons.

Setting the Tone

BASS

Slide the lever up or down in order to increase or decrease bass.

TREB

Slide the lever up or down in order to increase or decrease treble. You may want to decrease the treble if a station is weak or noisy.

Turn the control behind the upper knob in order to move the sound to the left speakers or to the right speakers. The middle position balances the sound between the speakers.
