A tape player that is not cleaned on a regular basis may cause the following conditions:

    • Reduced sound quality
    • Ruined cassettes
    • A damaged mechanism

Store the cassette tapes in their cases in order to keep the cassette tapes safe from the following items:

    • Contaminants
    • Direct sunlight
    • Extreme heat

If the cassette tapes are not stored in their cases, the following conditions may occur:

    • The cassettes may not operate properly.
    • The cassettes may cause failure of the tape player.

Regularly clean the tape player after every 50 hours of use. The radio may display CLN (clean). CLN indicates that you have used the tape player for 50 hours without resetting the tape clean timer. If this message appears on the display, clean the cassette tape player. The player will still play tapes. Clean the player as soon as possible in order to prevent damage to the tapes and player. If you notice a reduction in sound quality, try a known good cassette to see if one of the following items is at fault:

    • The tape
    • The tape player

Clean the tape player if the other cassette has no improvement in sound quality.
