Does the fuel gage work?

--

Go to Step 3

Go to Instrument Cluster Indicators and Gauges Inoperative

  1. Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position.
  2. Disconnect the powertrain control module connector C2.
  3. Turn the ignition switch to the RUN position.
  4. Connect a fused (3 amp) fused jumper between the powertrain control module harness connector C2 terminal 6 and ground.

Is the OIL LEVEL indicator on?

Replace the powertrain control module (PCM). Refer to Powertrain Control Module Replacement/Programming in Engine Controls.

Has the repair been made and the system rechecked?

System OK

Check for a poor connection or open in CKT 1173.

Is there a poor connection or open in CKT 1173?

Go to Step 6

Repair the poor connection or open in CKT 1173.

Has the repair been made and the system rechecked?

System OK

  1. Reconnect the PCM C2 connector.
  2. Disconnect the engine oil level sensor.
  3. Start the engine.

Is the OIL LEVEL indicator on?

Replace the engine oil level indicator switch. Refer to Engine Oil Level Indicator Switch Replacement in Engine Controls.

Has the repair been made and the system rechecked?

System OK

  1. Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position.
  2. Check for a short to ground in CKT 1174.

Is there a short to ground in CKT 1174?

Go to Step 10

Repair the short to ground in CKT 1174.

Has the repair been made and the system rechecked?

System OK

  1. Check the oil level indicator bulb and bulb connection.
  2. If OK, replace the instrument cluster. Refer to Instrument Cluster Replacement .
