Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the heater A/C module. Refer to HVAC Module Assembly Replacement .
  2. Remove the HVAC passenger compartment air filters.

  3. Object Number: 400653  Size: SH
  4. Remove the air inlet housing retaining screws.
  5. Tilt the air inlet housing away from the HVAC module and lift housing from the tab slots in the module case.
  6. Remove the 3 screws from the air inlet housing.

  7. Object Number: 400648  Size: SH
  8. Depress the tabs of the retaining clips and push the halves of the air inlet housing apart.

  9. Object Number: 400651  Size: SH
  10. Pull the air inlet valve from the air inlet valve actuator and through the half of the housing.

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the air inlet valve into the air inlet valve actuator through the half of the housing.

  2. Object Number: 400648  Size: SH
  3. Align the retaining tabs and the air inlet valve with the other half of the housing and snap the halves together.
  4. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  5. Install the 3 screws into the air inlet housing.
  6. Tighten
    Tighten the screws to 1.6 N·m (14 lb in).

  7. Align the tabs on the air inlet housing with the slots in the HVAC module and install the housing to the module.
  8. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.   9. Install the air inlet housing retaining screws.
  10. Tighten
    Tighten the screws to 1.6 N·m (14 lb in).

  11. Install the passenger compartment air filters.
  12. Install the heater A/C module. Refer to HVAC Module Assembly Replacement .
