Removal Procedure
When replacing battery cables, be sure to use replacement cables that
are the same type, gauge and length.
- Disconnect the battery
ground (negative) cable. Refer to
Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection
.
- Disconnect the battery (positive) cable.
- Remove the battery (positive) cable nut and cable from the accessory
wiring junction block.
- Remove the battery ground (negative) cable bolt from the inner
fender.
- Remove the battery ground (negative) cable nut and cable from
the transaxle stud.
- Remove the battery (positive)
cable from the starter motor BAT terminal.
- Remove the battery ground
(negative) and battery (positive) cable retainers from the lower tie bar.
- Remove the battery ground (negative) and battery (positive) cables
from the vehicle.
Installation Procedure
- Install the battery ground
(negative) and the battery (positive) cables to the vehicle.
- Install the battery ground (negative) and battery (positive) cable
retainers to the lower tie bar.
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.
These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage
the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when
installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
- Install the battery
(positive) cable to the starter motor BAT terminal.
Tighten
