  1. Ensure that the park brake is unapplied.
  2. Turn the ignition ON.

The BRAKE indicator is off.

The BRAKE indicator is on. Refer to Brake Warning Indicator Always On in Hydraulic Brakes.

  1. Apply the park brake until four clicks are heard.
  2. Remove your foot from the park brake lever (pedal).
    • The BRAKE indicator is on.
    • The park brake lever (pedal) stays in the applied position.
    • The BRAKE indicator is off. Refer to Brake Warning Indicator Inoperative in Hydraulic Brakes.
    • The park brake lever (pedal) does not stay in the applied position.

  1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
  2. Use your hands in order to rotate both of the rear wheels.

Neither of the rear wheels rotate.

Either of the rear wheels rotate. Refer to Park Brake Will Not Hold .

  1. Lower the vehicle.
  2. Release the park brake.

The BRAKE indicator is off.

The BRAKE indicator is on. Refer to Brake Warning Indicator Always On in Hydraulic Brakes.

  1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
  2. Use your hands in order to rotate both of the rear wheels.

Important: Some primary brake lining drag is considered normal.

Both rear wheels rotate freely?

Either of the rear wheels do not rotate freely.
