Removal Procedure
Caution: Unless directed otherwise, the ignition and start switch must be in the OFF or LOCK position, and all electrical loads must be OFF before servicing
any electrical component. Disconnect the negative battery cable to prevent an electrical spark should a tool or equipment come in contact with an exposed electrical terminal. Failure to follow these precautions may result in personal injury and/or damage to
the vehicle or its components.
- Remove the accessory wiring
junction block bolt.
- Remove the accessory wiring junction block from the front end
sheet metal diagonal brace.
- Remove the front end sheet metal diagonal brace. Refer to Brace Replacement - Sheet Metal Diagonal
in Body Front End.
- Disconnect the battery ground (negative) cable. Refer to
Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection
.
- Disconnect the battery (positive) cable.
- Remove the battery hold down retainer. Refer to
Battery Hold Down Retainer Replacement
.
Important: Do not tip the battery more than 40 degrees during removal.
- Remove the battery.
- Remove the battery insulator
from the battery.
Installation Procedure
- Install the battery insulator
to the battery.
Important: Do not tip the battery more than 40 degrees during installation.
- Install the battery. Make sure the battery is positioned under the front
lip of the battery tray.
- Install the battery hold down retainer. Refer to
Battery Hold Down Retainer Replacement
.
- Install the battery (positive) cable to the battery.
Tighten
Tighten the battery (positive) cable to 16 N·m (12 lb
ft).
- Install the battery ground (negative) cable to the battery. Refer
to
Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection
.
- Install the front end sheet metal diagonal brace. Refer to Brace Replacement - Sheet Metal Diagonal
in Body Front End.
- Install the accessory wiring junction block to the front end sheet
metal diagonal brace.
- Install the accessory wiring junction block bolt.
Tighten
Tighten the accessory wiring junction block bolt to 10 N·m
(88.5 lb in).
