Definition: The BCM does not sound the turn-signal reminder when the following conditions exist:

    • The turn signal switch is turned to either ON position.
    • The vehicle has traveled 1.2 km (¾ mi).

Was the Body Control Module (BCM) System Check performed?

  1. Turn the ignition switch to the RUN position.
  2. While observing the turn signal lamps, move the turn signal switch to the left position , then to the right position.

The turn lamps should turn on and off when the turn signal switch is in either the left or right turn position. Do the turn lamps operate as described?

Test drive the vehicle.

Does the speedometer function correctly?

  1. Turn the ignition switch to the RUN position.
  2. Move the turn signal switch to the left turn position.
  3. Using a test lamp, backprobe between the BCM connector C2 terminal C14 and ground.

Does the test lamp flash along with the left turn lamps?

  1. Move the turn signal switch to the right turn position.
  2. Using a test lamp, backprobe between the BCM connector C2 terminal C12 and ground.

Does the test lamp flash along with the right turn lamps?

Using a J 39200 DMM, backprobe between the BCM connector C2 terminal C15 and ground.

Is the voltage measured within the specified range?

4-6 V

The turn signal reminder is inoperative due to a malfunction of the turn lamps. Refer to Exterior Lights System Check in Lighting Systems.

The turn signal reminder is inoperative due to a malfunction of the Vehicle Speed Sensor (VSS) circuit. Refer to Engine Controls.

  1. Inspect the BCM connector C2 for a poor connection at the following terminals:
  2. • Terminal C12
    • Terminal C14
    • Terminal C15
  3. If the connections are OK, replace the BCM. Refer to Body Control Module Replacement in Body Control Systems.

  1. Turn the ignition switch to the LOCK position.
  2. Reinstall the connectors and the components that you removed.
  3. Turn the ignition switch to the RUN position for 6 seconds.
  4. Remove the BCM PRGRM fuse.
  5. Turn the ignition switch to the ACC position. The BCM sounds the chime several times equivalent to the BCM type that is installed on the vehicle.
  6. Within 1 second, turn the ignition switch from the ACC position to the LOCK position, then back to the ACC position. The BCM sounds any DTCs stored.
