Inspect the vehicle for radio rear seat audio control.

Is the vehicle equipped with radio rear seat audio control?

  1. Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position.
  2. Disconnect the inoperative speaker.
  3. Use a DMM in order to measure the resistance of the speaker.

Is the resistance within the specified range?

4-15ohms

Go to Step 3

  1. Disconnect all of the radio connectors.
  2. Use the DMM in order to measure the resistance at the inoperative speaker connector from terminal A to ground.

Does the resistance match the specified value?

Infinite

Go to Step 4

Use the DMM in order to measure the resistance at the speaker connector from terminal B to ground.

Is the resistance infinite?

Repair a short to ground in the speaker return circuit.

Has the repair been made?

--

  1. Reconnect the speaker.
  2. Use the DMM in order to measure the resistance at the radio connector of the speaker FEED and RETURN circuit of the affected speaker.

Does the resistance measure between the specified values?

4-15ohms

Service the radio. Refer to Radio Replacement .

  1. Inspect for faulty connections at the following locations:
  2. • The speaker
    • The in-line connectors
  3. If the connections are OK, repair the faulty connection or the open in the speaker FEED or RETURN circuit.

  1. Test for a short to B+ in the speaker FEED or RETURN circuit.
  2. If the circuit is OK, replace the speaker.

Repair the short to ground in the speaker FEED circuit.

Inspect the liftgate speakers.

Are the liftgate speakers inoperative?

  1. Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position.
  2. Disconnect the inoperative speaker.
  3. Use the DMM in order to measure the resistance of the speaker.

Is the resistance within the specified range?

4-15ohms

  1. Disconnect the radio rear seat audio control connector.
  2. Use the DMM in order to measure the resistance at the inoperative speaker harness connector from terminal A to ground.

Is the resistance infinite?

Use the DMM in order to measure the resistance at the speaker connector from terminal B to ground.

Is the resistance infinite?

  1. Reconnect the speaker.
  2. Disconnect the radio.
  3. Use the DMM in order to measure the resistance at the radio rear seat audio control harness connector from the speaker RETURN IN circuit to ground.

Is the resistance infinite?

Use the DMM in order to measure the resistance at the radio rear seat audio control connector from the speaker FEED IN circuit to ground.

Is the resistance infinite?

Service the radio rear seat audio controller. Refer to Rear Seat Audio Control Replacement .

Has the repair been made?

  1. Reconnect the rear seat audio control connector to the rear seat audio controller.
  2. Use the DMM in order to measure the resistance at the radio connector FEED and RETURN circuit of the affected speaker.

Is the resistance within the specified range?

4-15ohms

  1. Disconnect the rear seat audio control connector.
  2. Use a J 35616-A jumper kit in order to jump the affected rear speaker FEED and RETURN circuits to the radio at the rear seat audio control connector.
  3. Use a DMM in order to measure the resistance at the radio connector FEED and RETURN circuits of the affected speaker.

Is the resistance within the specified range?

0-1ohms

Use a DMM in order to measure the resistance at the rear seat audio control connector FEED and RETURN circuits of the affected speaker.

Is the resistance within the specified range?

4-15ohms

  1. Test CKT 906 (radio rear seat audio control enable) for a short to voltage.
  2. If CKT 906 has no short to voltage, replace the rear seat audio controller.

Has the repair been made?
