Notice: The Camshaft Position Sensor graphic illustrates the original factory installation. Do not route the new sensor pigtail as shown. Follow the Installation procedure below. Handle carefully in order to avoid damage to the sensor and pigtail. Route away from electronic components in order to avoid Electromagnetic Interference (EMI).

Removal Procedure

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection in engine electrical.
  2. Remove the serpentine drive belt.
  3. Remove the power steering pump assembly.
  4. Refer to Steering and Suspension for removal of power steering pump assembly.

  5. Remove the electrical connector.
  6. Remove the bolt.
  7. Remove the sensor.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 12754  Size: SH

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  1. Install the Camshaft Position Sensor.
  2. Tighten
    Tighten the retaining bolt to 10 N·m (8 lb ft).

  3. Connect the electrical connector.
  4. Install the power steering pump.
  5. Install the serpentine drive belt.
  6. Connect the negative battery cable.
