Removal Procedure

  1. Turn the ignition OFF.

  2. Object Number: 476157  Size: SH

    Important: The strap that secures the coolant heater cord to the diagonal brace is reusable. Do NOT cut this strap in order to remove it.

  3. Press the coolant heater strap retainer tab in order to remove coolant heater cord strap.
  4. Use wire cutters in order to remove the coolant heater cord upper straps from the engine wiring harness.
  5. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.

  6. Object Number: 476158  Size: SH
  7. Use wire cutters in order to remove the three coolant heater cord lower straps (1) from the engine wiring harness.
  8. Remove the right front wheel.
  9. • For vehicles with steel wheels, refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation in Tires and Wheels.
    • For Chevrolet and Oldsmobile vehicles with aluminum wheels, refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation in Tires and Wheels.
    • For Pontiac and Export vehicles with aluminum wheels, refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation in Tires and Wheels.
  10. Remove the right engine splash shield. Refer to Engine Splash Shield Replacement in Body Front End.

  11. Object Number: 476150  Size: SH
  12. Remove the engine coolant heater cord from the engine coolant heater.
  13. Remove the engine coolant heater cord.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 476150  Size: SH
  1. Install the engine coolant heater cord to the engine coolant heater.
  2. Properly route the coolant heater cord.

  3. Object Number: 476158  Size: SH
  4. Use three new tie straps (1) in order to secure the coolant heater cord to the engine lower wiring harness.
  5. Install the right engine splash shield. Refer to Engine Splash Shield Replacement in Body Front End.
  6. Install the right front wheel.
  7. • For vehicles with steel wheels, refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation in Tires and Wheels.
    • For Chevrolet and Oldsmobile vehicles with aluminum wheels, refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation in Tires and Wheels.
    • For Pontiac and Export vehicles with aluminum wheels, refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation in Tires and Wheels.
  8. Lower the vehicle.
  9. Use two new tie straps in order to secure the coolant heater cord to the engine upper wiring harness.

  11. Use the reusable strap in order to secure the coolant heater cord to the diagonal brace.
