SUBJECT ELIMINATION OF SQUEAK AT STEERING COLUMN TO INSTRUMENT PANEL (ADD SQUEAK REDUCTION TAPE)

MODELS/YEARS 1990 SILHOUETTE

CONDITION:

--------- Squeak and or itch type noise from steering column mast jacket at instrument panel.

CAUSE:

------ The steering column contacts the instrument panel

CORRECTION:

------------- Add a 250 mm (10") length of 3M #5430 Squeak Reduction Tape, or equivalent, approximately 15 m (5/8") from end of bowl as indicated in the illustration.

1. Lower the steering column. See the 1990 Silhouette Service Manual for the proper procedure.

2. Add tape as illustrated.

3. Raise and secure steering column.
