SERVICE MANUAL UPDATE SEC. 8A REVISED A/C ON-BOARD DIAG.

SUBJECT: DUAL ZONE A/C (CJ2) AIR DELIVERY AND TEMPERATURE CONTROLS PROGRAMMER CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION

MODEL/YEARS: 1992 NINETY EIGHT

The procedure to enter Dual Zone (CJ2) on-board diagnostics, found in the 1992 Ninety Eight Service Manual is incorrect. The procedure shown on the back of this bulletin replaces the ON BOARD DIAGNOSTICS PROCEDURE found on page 8A-68-26.

This bulletin also clarifies the labeling of the Packard 32-way HVAC Programmer connector used on vehicles equipped with dual zone air conditioning system.

Currently, a common Terminal Position Assurance (TPA) is used in both the C-D 32 pin connector (used on vehicles equipped with the electronic (C68) air conditioning system) and the E-F 32 pin connector (used on vehicles equipped with the dual zone (CJ2) air conditioning system). To properly identity the HVAC Programmer connector used in the dual zone (CJ2) air condition system, the TPA's must be removed. The connector can be identified by the letters on the connector.

General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
