Removal Procedure
- Remove the left instrument
panel insulator. Refer to
Instrument Panel Insulator Replacement
in Instrument Panel, Gauges, and Console.
- Disconnect the accelerator controls cable (5) from accelerator
controls pedal (1).
- Remove the bolts (3) and the studs (2) that retain
the accelerator controls pedal to the bulkhead (4).
- Remove the accelerator controls pedal.
Installation Procedure
Important: The throttle should operate freely and without binding between full
closed and wide open throttle.
- Install the accelerator
controls pedal (1) to the bulkhead (4).
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.
These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage
the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when
installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
- Install the accelerator
controls pedal bolts (3) and the studs (2).
Tighten
Tighten the pedal bolts and studs to 3.0 N·m (27 lb in).
- Connect the accelerator controls cable (5) to the accelerator
controls pedal (1).
- Check for complete throttle opening and closing positions by operating
the accelerator pedal. Also check for a correct carpet fit under the accelerator
controls pedal.
- Install the left instrument panel insulator. Refer to
Instrument Panel Insulator Replacement
in Instrument Panel,
Gauges, and Console.
