Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 289623  Size: SH
  1. Remove the air cleaner intake duct (3). Refer to Air Cleaner Inlet Duct Replacement .
  2. Inspect the throttle body bore and the throttle valve plate for deposits. Open the throttle valve to inspect all surfaces.
  3. Notice: Do not use any solvent that contains Methyl Ethyl Ketone (MEK). This solvent may damage fuel system components.

  4. Clean the throttle body bore and the throttle valve plate with GM PN 1052626 Top Engine Cleaner, AC-Delco PN X66-P Carburetor Tune-Up Conditioner, or equivalent, using a clean shop towel .

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the intake duct assembly (3) to the air cleaner . Refer to Air Cleaner Inlet Duct Replacement .
  2. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  3. Install the air cleaner intake duct clamps.
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the clamp to 2 N·m (18 lb in).
