Removal Procedure

Tools Required

J 38778 Door Trim Pad and Garnish Clip Remover

  1. Remove the rear compartment trim panel. Refer to Rear Compartment Trim Panel Replacement in Body Rear End.

  2. Object Number: 364839  Size: SH
  3. Remove the rear bumper fascia retainer nuts.

  4. Object Number: 364835  Size: SH
  5. Remove the rear bumper fascia bolts.
  6. Remove the rear bumper fascia splash shield. Refer to Rear Bumper Fascia Splash Shield Replacement .

  7. Object Number: 364837  Size: SH
  8. Remove the rear bumper fascia lower retainers using J 38778 .

  9. Object Number: 364833  Size: SH
  10. Remove the rear bumper fascia upper retainers using theJ 38778 .

  11. Object Number: 364831  Size: SH
  12. Remove the rear bumper fascia from the body.
  13. Remove the bumper fascia outer support from the fascia. Refer to Rear Bumper Fascia Outer Support Replacement .

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 364831  Size: SH
  1. Install the bumper fascia outer support to the fascia. Refer to Rear Bumper Fascia Outer Support Replacement .
  2. Install the rear bumper fascia to the body.

  3. Object Number: 364833  Size: SH
  4. Install the rear bumper fascia upper retainers.

  5. Object Number: 364837  Size: SH
  6. Install the rear bumper fascia lower retainers.
  7. Install the rear bumper fascia splash shield. Refer to Rear Bumper Fascia Splash Shield Replacement .

  8. Object Number: 364835  Size: SH

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  9. Install the rear bumper fascia bolts.
  10. Tighten
    Tighten the rear bumper fascia bolts to 5 N·m (44 lb in).

  11. Install the rear bumper fascia nuts.
  12. Tighten
    Tighten the rear bumper fascia nuts to 5 N·m (44 lb in).

  13. Install the rear compartment trim panel. Refer to Rear Compartment Trim Panel Replacement .
