Removal Procedure

Tools Required

J 38778 Door Trim Pad and Garnish Clip Remover

  1. Remove the rear shelf. Refer to Rear Window Shelf Trim Panel Replacement .
  2. Disconnect the electric connector (located under the rear shelf) to the headliner wiring harness.
  3. Remove the sunshades. Refer to Sunshade Replacement .
  4. Remove the sunshade retainers. Refer to Sunshade Anchor Replacement .
  5. Remove the coat hook. Refer to Coat Hook Replacement .
  6. Remove the side assist handles. Refer to (front) Assist Handle Replacement or (rear) Assist Handle Replacement .
  7. Remove the windshield side upper garnish molding. Refer to Windshield Pillar Garnish Molding Replacement .
  8. Remove the upper quarter trim panels. Refer to Rear Quarter Upper Trim Panel Replacement .
  9. Recline the front seats.
  10. Remove the upper center pillar trim panels. Refer to Center Pillar Upper Trim Panel Replacement .
  11. Pull down on the door weather-strip seal on the front doors.
  12. Pull down on the door weather-strip seal on the rear doors.

  14. Pull down the headliner around the sunroof opening to release the hook and the loop retainers.
  15. Use J 38778 in order to remove the two rear retainers.
  16. Remove the headliner from the vehicle through the right front door.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 166606  Size: SH

    Important: Do not bend the headliner when loading.

  1. Install the headliner to the vehicle through the right front door.
  2. Align the sunshade holes in the headliner with the respective hole in the body structure in order to install the headliner.
  3. Install the passenger's side sunshade retainer to correctly align the front of the headliner to the roof. Refer to Sunshade Anchor Replacement
  4. Install the driver's side rear retainer to correctly align the rear of the headliner to the roof.
  5. Install the remaining rear headliner retainer.
  6. Push up on the headliner around the sunroof opening to secure the hook and the loop retainers.
  7. Install the door weather-strip seal to hold headliner in place on the front doors.
  8. Install the door weather-strip seal to hold headliner in place on the back doors.
  9. Install the upper center pillar trim panels. Refer to Center Pillar Upper Trim Panel Replacement .
  10. Connect the electric connector (located under the rear shelf) to the headliner wiring harness.
  11. Install the rear shelf. Refer to Rear Window Shelf Trim Panel Replacement .
  12. Install the upper quarter trim panels. Refer to Rear Quarter Upper Trim Panel Replacement .
  13. Install the windshield side upper garnish molding. Refer to Windshield Pillar Garnish Molding Replacement .
  14. Install the side assist handles. Refer to (front) Assist Handle Replacement or (rear) Assist Handle Replacement .
  15. Install the coat hook. Refer to Coat Hook Replacement .
  16. Install the remaining sunshade retainer. Refer to Sunshade Anchor Replacement .
  17. Install the sunshades. Refer to Sunshade Replacement .
