Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection
in Engine Eletrical.
- Remove the rear seat back. Refer to
Rear Seat Back Replacement
in Seats.
- Remove the rear seat back sound barrier. Refer to
Rear Seat Back Sound Barrier Replacement
in Seats.
- Remove the carpeting and the sound deadening pad from the rear
of the floorpan.
- Locate the area on the floor pan directly above the damaged rear
suspension support nut.
- Cut an access panel in the floor using a cutoff wheel directly
above the damaged support nut.
Be careful not to cut or damage any adjacent panels or reinforcements.
- Lift the panel upwards to gain access to the rear suspension support
nut.
- Remove the rear suspension support nut.
- Break the spot welds on only one side of the rear suspension support
nut retainer.
The rear suspension support nut retainer will be reused if not damaged.
- Lift one side of the rear suspension support nut retainer high
enough to remove the damaged nut.
- Remove the damaged rear suspension support nut from the access
panel previously cut in the floor.
Installation Procedure
- Install a new rear suspension support nut to the floor through
the previously cut access panel.
- Push the one side of the rear suspension support nut retainer
downwards against the floor.
Make sure the frame crossmember nut moves freely between the frame crossmember
and the retainer.
- Weld the access panel shut.
- Clean the welded surfaces.
- Apply a two-part catalyzed primer to the welded area with a brush.
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.
These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage
the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when
installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
- Install a new
rear suspension support bolt.
Tighten
Tighten the rear suspension support bolt to 50 N·m (37 lb ft).
- Install the rear seat back sound barrier. Refer to
Rear Seat Back Sound Barrier Replacement
in Seats.
- Install the rear seat back. Refer to
