General Description

Caution: Do not use the cruise control on slippery roads, steeply graded roads, or in heavy traffic of heavy or varying volume. Failure to follow these CAUTIONS could possibly cause you to loose control of the vehicle and result in damage to the vehicle and personal injury.

Important: The cruise control system will only operate if the vehicle's speed is exceeding 40 km/h (25 mp/h) at the of cruise control activation.

Cruise control is a speed control system that maintains a desired vehicle speed under normal driving conditions. The steep grades up or down may cause variations in the selected speeds. The cruise control system has the following capabilities:

   • Cruise
   • Coast
   • Resume speed
   • Accelerate
   • Tap-up
   • Tap-down

The main parts of the cruise control system consist of the following components:

    • The cruise control and hazard warning switch
    • The remote cruise control switch (consisting of a RES ACCEL button switch, the CLEAR button switch and a COAST SET button switch)
    • The cruise control module
    • The cruise control cable
    • The vehicle speed sensor
    • The cruise control release switch
    • The stop lamp switch

During the cruise control operation the accelerator may be pressed at any time to increase the vehicle's speed. When the accelerator is released the vehicle eventually returns to the last set cruise speed.

The cruise control system may be disengaged by pressing the following components:

    • The brake pedal
    • The CLEAR button switch
    • Turning the cruise control system off by pressing the CRUISE button switch.
