Removal Procedure

  1. Open the instrument panel (IP) compartment door assembly.
  2. Lightly squeeze the edges of the door handle and latch cover to release the retaining tabs, then remove the cover from the inside of the IP compartment door.
  3. Remove the screws retaining the IP compartment door latch to the door.
  4. Begin to lift the door latch away from the door, slide the latch to the right, then disconnect the latch rod from the door handle.
  5. Remove the door latch.
  6. Using a flat-bladed tool as an aid if necessary, release and remove the retainer from the IP compartment door handle.
  7. Remove the door handle.

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the door handle into position in the IP compartment door.
  2. Install and fully seat the the retainer to the IP compartment door handle.
  3. Connect the door latch rod to the door handle, then lower the door latch into position on the door.
  4. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  5. Install the IP compartment door latch retaining screws.
  6. Tighten
    Tighten the IP compartment door latch retaining screws to 2 N·m (18 lb in).

  7. Align the door handle and latch cover to the IP compartment door, then carefully press the cover into place to secure the retaining tabs.
  8. Close the IP compartment door assembly.
