Removal Procedure
- Remove the LH instrument
panel (IP) insulator. Refer to
Instrument Panel Insulator Replacement
.
- Remove the steering column opening filler panel. Refer to
Steering Column Opening Filler Replacement
.
- Remove the screws retaining the IP cluster trim plate to the IP
trim pad.
- Grasp the cluster trim plate along the bottom edge and carefully
pull to release the retainers.
- Disconnect the electrical connector from the trip odometer and
reset switch.
- Using a small flat-bladed screwdriver, carefully release the switch
retainers and remove the switch.
- Remove the IP cluster trim plate.
Installation Procedure
- Align the trip odometer
and reset switch to the IP cluster trim plate and press in place to secure
the retainers.
- Connect the electrical connector to the trip odometer and reset
switch.
- Align the IP cluster trim plate retainers to the slots in the
IP trim pad.
- Carefully press the cluster trim plate along the bottom edge to
secure the retainers.
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.
These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage
the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when
installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
- Install the IP cluster trim plate retaining
screws.
Tighten
Tighten the IP cluster trim plate retaining screws to 2 N·m
(18 lb in).
- Install the steering column opening filler panel. Refer to
Steering Column Opening Filler Replacement
.
- Install the LH IP insulator. Refer to
Instrument Panel Insulator Replacement
.
