Important: DO NOT ROTATE A NEW PNP SWITCH. A new PNP switch is pinned in the Neutral position. If after the PNP switch is installed, the PNP switch bolt holes do not align with the threaded holes in the transaxle, verify that the shift selector shaft is in Neutral.
Adjust the PNP switch if the new switch has been rotated and the pin is broken or if you are installing an old PNP switch. Refer to Park/Neutral Position Switch Adjustment .Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
Tighten
Tighten the PNP switch bolts/screws to 25 N·m (18 lb ft).
Important: Verify that the engine starts only in the Park position or the Neutral position once the PNP switch is installed. If the engine starts with the transaxle in any other gear, adjust the PNP switch, refer to Park/Neutral Position Switch Adjustment . If the engine STILL starts in other gears, inspect the shift cable for proper adjustment. Refer to Range Selector Lever Cable Adjustment .
