Check the R/CMPT REL fuse in the bussed electrical center for an open.

Is the R/CMPT REL fuse open?

  1. Disconnect the transaxle range switch connector C1.
  2. Using a test light, probe between the transaxle range switch harness connector C1 from terminal B and ground.

Is the test light on?

--

Go to Step 3

Connect a 15A fused jumper to the transaxle range switch harness connector C1, between terminal B and terminal F.

Are the backup lamps on?

--

Go to Step 5

Go to Step 4

Repair poor connection or open in circuit 24 between the transaxle range switch harness connector C1 terminal F and S424.

Is the repair complete?

--

Go to Backup Lamp System Check

  1. Check the transaxle cable for binding or restriction.
  2. Check the transaxle range switch for proper adjustment.
  3. Refer to Park/Neutral Position Switch Adjustment or Range Selector Lever Cable Adjustment in Automatic Transaxle for more information.
