Check the HIGH BLOWER fuse in the fuse block.

Is the HIGH BLOWER fuse open?

Check for a short to ground in circuit 40 (ORN).

Is there a short to ground in the circuit?

Go to Step 3

Locate and repair the short to ground in circuit 40 (ORN).

Is the repair complete?

--

System OK

Replace the blower motor resistor. Refer to Blower Motor Resistor Replacement in HVAC Systems .

Is the repair complete?

System OK

  1. Disconnect the blower motor resistor.
  2. Use a test lamp to backprobe between the blower motor resistor harness connector terminal G and ground.

Does the test lamp light?

--

Go to Step 6

  1. Turn the ignition switch to the ON position.
  2. Place the heater-A/C control in the VENT position.
  3. Place the blower switch in the HI position.
  4. Use a test lamp to backprobe between the blower motor resistor harness connector terminal F and ground.

Does the test lamp light?

Go to Step 7

Replace the blower motor resistor. Refer to Blower Motor Resistor Replacement in HVAC Systems .

Is the repair complete?

  1. Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position.
  2. Disconnect the heater-A/C control connector C 1.
  3. Check for poor connection or an open in circuit 52 (ORN) between the heater-A/C control harness connector C 1 terminal C and the blower motor resistor harness connector terminal F.

Is there a poor connection or an an open in the circuit?

Locate and repair the fault in circuit 52 (ORN).

Is the repair complete?
