Tools Required

1. Remove the upper and lower shrouds. Refer to Steering Column Trim Cover Replacement - Off Vehicle
2. Remove the SIR coil assembly. Refer to Inflatable Restraint Steering Wheel Module Coil Replacement - Off Vehicle .



3. Remove the bearing retainer (6) using tools J 23653-SIR and J 42137. Dispose of the bearing retainer.
4. Remove the cam orientation plate (5).
5. Remove the turn signal cancel cam assembly (4).
6. Remove the upper bearing spring (3).
7. Remove the upper bearing inner race seat (2).
8. Remove the inner race (1).

Tools Required

1. Install the inner race (1).
2. Install the upper bearing inner race seat (2).
3. Install the upper bearing spring (3).
4. Install the turn signal cancel cam assembly (4). Lubricate with synthetic grease.



5. Install the cam orientation plate (1).
6. Install the new bearing retainer (2) using tools J 23653-SIR and J 42137. The bearing retainer must be firmly seated in the groove on the race and upper shaft assembly.
7. Install the SIR coil assembly. Refer to Inflatable Restraint Steering Wheel Module Coil Replacement - Off Vehicle .
8. Install the upper and lower shrouds. Refer to Steering Column Trim Cover Replacement - Off Vehicle
