Removal Procedure
Tools Required

Steering Pump Pulley Remover |

Steering Pump Pulley Installer |
- Remove the drive belt. Refer to
Drive Belt Replacement
in Engine Mechanical.
- Remove the power steering (PS) pump from the engine block. Refer
to
Power Steering Pump Replacement
.
- Use the the J 37609
in order to remove the PS pump pulley.
Installation Procedure

Important: An inward force must not be put exerted on the pump shaft during the
assembly of the pulley.
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.
These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage
the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when
installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
Important:
• | The face of the pulley hub must be flush with the end of the pump
driveshaft. |
• | Do not use the arbor press to install the pulley. |
- Use the J 25033-C
or
the J 36015
in order to
install the PS pump pulley to the PS pump.
- Install the PS pump to the engine block. Refer to
Power Steering Pump Replacement
.
- Install the drive belt. Refer to
Drive Belt Replacement
in Engine Mechanical.
- Bleed the power steering system. Refer to
Power Steering System Bleeding
.
- Inspect the system for leaks. Refer to
Power Steering Gear and Pump Leaks
.
