  1. Ensure that the park brake is unapplied.
  2. Turn the ignition ON.

The BRAKE warning indicator is off.

The BRAKE warning indicator is on.

  1. Apply the park brake until four clicks are heard.
  2. Remove your foot from the park brake lever (pedal).
    • The BRAKE warning indicator is on.
    • The park brake lever (pedal) stays in the applied position.
    • The BRAKE warning indicator is off.
    • The park brake lever (pedal) does not stay in the applied position.

  1. Raise and suitably support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle Vehicle Lifting and Jacking.
  2. Use your hands in order to rotate both of the rear wheels.

Neither of the rear wheels rotate.

Either of the rear wheels rotate. Refer to Park Brake Will Not Hold .

  1. Lower the vehicle.
  2. Release the park brake.

The BRAKE warning indicator is off.

The BRAKE warning indicator is on.

  1. Raise and suitably support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle Vehicle Lifting and Jacking.
  2. Use your hands in order to rotate both of the rear wheels.

Important: Some primary brake lining drag is considered normal.

Both rear wheels rotate freely?

Either of the rear wheels do not rotate freely.

Refer to Park Brake Will Not Release .
