Notice: Proper stoplamp switch adjustment is essential. Improper stoplamp switch
adjustment may cause brake drag, heat buildup and excessive brake lining wear.
Important: Adjust the stoplamp switch and the cruise control switch at the same
time. The adjustment procedures for both switches are identical.
With the brake pedal in the fully released position, ensure that the
stoplamp plunger is fully depressed against the brake pedal shanks.
- Insert the stoplamp switch
and the cruise control switch (if equipped) into the brake pedal bracket.
- Push and hold the brake pedal forward in order to set the brake
push rod into the booster.
- Push the stoplamp switch and the cruise control switch all the
way into the brake pedal bracket until the switch housings contact the bracket.
- Pull the brake pedal to
the rear, against the internal stop. This adjusts both the stoplamp switch
and the cruise control switch.
- Inspect the stoplamp switch for proper adjustment. For diagnosis
of the stoplamps, refer to
Stop Lamps Inoperative
or
Stop Lamps Always On
in
Lighting Systems.
