Removal Procedure

Caution: Unless directed otherwise, the ignition and start switch must be in the OFF or LOCK position, and all electrical loads must be OFF before servicing any electrical component. Disconnect the negative battery cable to prevent an electrical spark should a tool or equipment come in contact with an exposed electrical terminal. Failure to follow these precautions may result in personal injury and/or damage to the vehicle or its components.

Caution: This vehicle is equipped with a Supplemental Inflatable Restraint (SIR) System. Failure to follow the correct procedure could cause the following conditions:

   • Air bag deployment
   • Personal injury
   • Unnecessary SIR system repairs
In order to avoid the above conditions, observe the following guidelines:
   • Refer to SIR Component Views in order to determine if you are performing service on or near the SIR components or the SIR wiring.
   • If you are performing service on or near the SIR components or the SIR wiring, disable the SIR system. Refer to Disabling the SIR System.

  1. Disconnect the battery ground (negative) cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection .

  3. Remove the battery (positive) cable cover.

  4. Object Number: 289316  Size: SH
  5. Remove the battery (positive) cable junction block lead nut.
  6. Remove the battery (positive) cable from the underhood accessory wiring junction block.

  7. Object Number: 321480  Size: SH
  8. Remove the underhood accessory wiring junction block from the junction block bracket.

  9. Object Number: 321477  Size: SH
  10. Disconnect the top three instrument panel harness connectors.

  11. Object Number: 321473  Size: SH
  12. Remove the electrical connector bolt and the engine harness from the accessory wiring junction block.

  13. Object Number: 321469  Size: SH
  14. Remove the electrical connector bolt and the instrument panel harness from the accessory wiring junction block.

  15. Object Number: 321458  Size: SH
  16. Remove the electrical connector bolt and the forward lamp harness from the underhood accessory wiring junction block.
  17. Remove the accessory wiring junction block from the vehicle.

  19. Remove the junction block bracket nut.
  20. Remove the junction block bracket.

Installation Procedure

  1. Position the battery (positive) cable through the junction block bracket and install the junction block bracket.

  2. Object Number: 321442  Size: SH
  3. Install the junction block bracket nut.
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the junction block bracket nut to 3 N·m(27 lb in).

  5. Install the forward lamp harness to the accessory wiring junction block.

  6. Object Number: 321469  Size: SH
  7. Install the instrument panel harness to the accessory wiring junction block.

  8. Object Number: 321473  Size: SH
  9. Install the engine harness to the accessory wiring junction block.
  10. Install the electrical connector bolts.
  11. Tighten
    Tighten the electrical connector bolts to 7 N·m (62 lb in).

  12. Connect the top three instrument panel harness connectors.

  13. Object Number: 321480  Size: SH
  14. Install the accessory wiring junction block to the junction block bracket. Make sure the tabs are fully seated.

  15. Object Number: 289316  Size: SH
  16. Install the battery (positive) cable and the battery (positive) cable junction block lead nut to the underhood accessory wiring junction block.
  17. Tighten
    Tighten the battery (positive) cable junction block lead nut to 25 N·m (18 lb ft).

  18. Replace the positive battery cable cover.
  19. Connect the battery ground (negative) cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection .
