Exhaust system hangers made out of rubber support the weight of the exhaust system, isolate engine noise, isolate engine vibration, space the system away from the underbody of the vehicle and allow for exhaust system expansion that occurs as the exhaust system warms up. The hangers mount to brackets on the underbody and various brackets welded to the exhaust system.
The three-way catalytic converter pipe has two brackets and hangers at the rear of the pipe.
The exhaust pipe has three areas that are supported by hangers:
• | The exhaust pipe where it meets the right side of the vehicle has one hanger and bracket welded on the underbody |
• | The exhaust pipe where it crosses under the rear suspension has one hanger and a replaceable bracket bolted to the rear suspension crossmember |
• | The rear of the muffler has two hangers and a hanger bolted to the bumper impact bar mounting frame bracket. |
