Removal Procedure

Caution: Before servicing any electrical component, the ignition and start switch must be in the OFF or LOCK position and all electrical loads must be OFF, unless instructed otherwise in these procedures. If a tool or equipment could easily come in contact with a live exposed electrical terminal, also disconnect the negative battery cable. Failure to follow these precautions may cause personal injury and/or damage to the vehicle or its components.

  1. Remove the battery ground (negative) cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection in Engine Electrical.

  2. Object Number: 405812 Size: SH
  3. Remove the oil level indicator.
  4. Loosen the nut holding the oil level indicator tube bracket to the exhaust manifold stud.
  5. Remove the oil level indicator tube. Pull upward.

Installation Procedure

    Object Number: 405812 Size: SH
  1. Install the oil indicator tube to the engine. Make sure that the oil level indicator tube is fully seated in the engine.
  2. Make sure the o-ring is in place.
  3. Slide the oil indicator tube bracket onto the exhaust manifold stud.
  4. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  5. Install the oil level indicator tube nut on the exhaust manifold stud.
  6. Tighten
Tighten the oil level indicator tube nut to 19 N·m (14 lb ft).

  7. Install the oil level indicator.
  8. Connect the battery ground (negative) cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection in Engine Electrical.
