Removal Procedure

The Delphi CS130D (K68) 105 ampere generator is serviced as a complete unit only.

Caution: Before servicing any electrical component, the ignition and start switch must be in the OFF or LOCK position and all electrical loads must be OFF, unless instructed otherwise in these procedures. If a tool or equipment could easily come in contact with a live exposed electrical terminal, also disconnect the negative battery cable. Failure to follow these precautions may cause personal injury and/or damage to the vehicle or its components.

  1. Disconnect the battery ground (negative) cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection .
  2. Remove the drive belt from the generator. Refer to Drive Belt Replacement in Engine Mechanical - 3.8L.
  3. Remove the rear generator brace bolt. Refer to Generator Brace Replacement .

  4. Object Number: 162160 Size: SH
  5. Remove the bolts from the generator.

  6. Object Number: 380064 Size: SH
  7. Remove the wiring harness connector from the generator.
  8. Remove the protective boot from the generator output BAT terminal for access.
  9. Remove the generator output BAT terminal nut and the battery (positive) lead from the generator.
  10. Remove the generator.

Installation Procedure

    Object Number: 380064 Size: SH
  1. Place the generator to the engine.
  2. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  3. Install the battery (positive) lead and the generator output BAT terminal nut.
  4. Tighten
Tighten the generator output BAT terminal nut to 20 N·m (15 lb ft).

  5. Press the protective boot on to the generator output BAT terminal.
  6. Install the wiring harness connector to the generator.

  7. Object Number: 162160 Size: SH
  8. Finger start the generator rear bracket bolt to the hole on generator bracket. Do not tighten the bolt.
  9. Finger start the generator stud to the hole on the generator bracket. Do not tighten the bolt.
  10. Place the generator to the generator bracket on the engine.
  11. Install the generator bolt. Do not tighten the bolt.
  12. Tighten the generator bolts in the order described. The following is a mandatory torque sequence:
  13. 9.1. Tighten the generator bolt.

    Tighten
Tighten the generator bolt to 50 N·m (37 lb ft).

    9.2. Tighten the generator stud.

    Tighten
Tighten the generator stud to 50 N·m (37 lb ft).

9.3. Tighten the rear generator brace bolt. Refer to Generator Brace Replacement .

    Tighten
