Removal Procedure
- Remove the battery ground (negative) cable. Refer to
Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection
.
- Open the rear door.
- Remove the rear door conduit. Refer to
Rear Side Door Conduit Replacement
.
Important: Manually close the rear door latch, stopping the rear door from closing
fully.
- Position the rear door against the striker.
- Open the front door.
- Support the rear door.
- Remove the rear door body
side hinge bolts with help from an assistant.
- Remove the door with the help of an assistant.
Installation Procedure
- Position the rear door
to the vehicle with the help of an assistant.
- Support the rear door.
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.
These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage
the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when
installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
Important: Use Loctite® Blue GM P/N 123453852 or the equivalent prior
to the fastener installation.
- Install the body side hinge bolts.
Tighten
Tighten the body side hinge bolts to 33 N·m(24 lb ft).
- Trip the door latch to the open position.
- Remove the rear door support.
- Install the rear door conduit. Refer to
Rear Side Door Conduit Replacement

- Adjust the rear door. Refer to
Door Adjustment
.
- Install the battery ground (negative) cable. Refer to
Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection
.
