- Park the vehicle on level ground.
- Inspect the tire pressure. Ensure that all tires are inflated
to the proper pressure.
- Inspect the fuel level. Verify that the fuel tank is full.
- Ensure that there is no extra weight in the passenger compartment
or the trunk. The trunk must be empty except for the spare tire and the jack.
- On vehicles equipped with electronic level control (ELC), ensure
that the ELC is operating properly.
- Place the front seat in the rear position.
- Bounce the vehicle three times at the front and at the rear in
order to normalize the suspension.
- Measure the clearance (3) between the centerline of the rear bolt bushing
(1) and the lowest point on the ball joint housing (2) (except the grease
fitting).
The clearance (3) should measure 50-70 mm (1 15/16-2
3/4 in) on the LSS, Eighty-Eight, Lesabre, and Bonneville.
- Measure the clearance (3) between the centerline of the rear bolt bushing
(1) and the lowest point on the ball joint housing (2) (except the grease
fitting).
The clearance (3) should measure 68-88 mm (2 11/16-3
7/16 in) on the LSS, Eighty-Eight, Lesabre, and Bonneville.
- Measure the clearance (1) between the front underbody (4) and
the ground (2).
The clearance (1) should measure 229-249 mm (9-9
13/16 in) on the LSS, Eighty-Eight, Lesabre, and Bonneville.
- Measure the clearance (1) between the rear underbody and the ground (2).
The clearance (1) should measure 236-256 mm (9 9/32-10
1/16 in) on the LSS, Eighty-Eight, Lesabre, and Bonneville.
- Verify that all of the above clearances measure within the maximum
variation from the specified values.
The Maximum variation side to side and front to rear is 19 mm
(3/4 in).
