VIB. OR SHUDDER 0-10 MPH MODERATE ACCELERATION

Models/Years 1986 Delta 88 Models Built Without "Hydro-mount" Engine Mount

This bulletin supersedes Dealer Technical Bulletin 86-T-28A dated April 1988. Please discard 86-T-28A and replace it with this revision which provides the illustrations, that were omitted on 86-T-28A.

If a vibration or shudder on acceleration from 1-10 mph occurs on early built 1986 Delta 88's, the right rear engine mount and bracket should be loosened to relieve any stress situation in this area that may have been introduced at the time of assembly. If movement occurs when loosened, the mount and bracket should be retightened and the car road tested to see if the vibration still exists. If it does, installation of the following mount and bracket will greatly reduce the vibration: Part Number ----------- Mount 14074042 Bracket to frame 14074044 Bracket to transaxle 22517145

This correction will not apply to vehicles built after mid-year 1986 as they will be assembled with a new hydro-mount for improved vibration isolation.

General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
