SERVICE MANUAL UPDATE-SEC. 8A COOLANT FAN SYMPTOM TABLE

MODELS/YEARS 1988-89 CUTLASS SUPREME

The Symptom Table in Service Manual Section 8A, 1988 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme page 31-3 and 1989 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme page 31-4 is incorrect.

Symptom F should be replaced with the following.

If both the Primary and Secondary Coolant Fans do not come on when refrigerant pressure exceeds 1380 kPa (200 psi), disconnect the A/C intermediate Pressure Switch (1988 Cutlass Supreme) Engine Coolant Fan A/C Refrigerant Pressure Switch (1989 Cutlass Supreme). If the fans now come on replace the switch. If the fans do not come on check wiring to switch for a short to ground. If wiring is okay refer to Section 6E3.

General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
