THROTTLE VALVE BUZZ ON 125C TRANSAXLE
EARLY 1986 CUTLASS CIERA MODELS WITH 2.8L MPFI ENGINE (VIN CODE W)
A 1986 THM 125C model CTC or CXC transaxle built prior to October 29, 1985 (Julian date 302) in Windsor may exhibit a throttle valve buzz condition. This buzz condition may be felt in the accelerator pedal. Refer to Figure 1 for transaxle identification information.
On October 29, 1985, a new valve body to case cover spacer plate was introduced to eliminate the buzz by reducing the diameter of the 1-2 accumulator valve feedback orifice.
To correct a throttle valve buzz condition for models built before October 29, 1985, replace the original valve body to case cover spacer plate with new spacer plate part no. 8660569.
Refer to the appropriate Service Manual for removal and installation procedures.
General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
