FRT. FASCIA SAG BELOW HAEDLAMP INSTALLATION PROCEDURE

VEHICLES AFFECTED: 1989 CUTLASS CALAIS

Some 1989 Calais models may develop a sag or hollow appearance in the fascia below the headlamps. If this condition should develop and cause customer comments on it, it may be corrected by installing a shim under the fascia below each headlamp. The following procedure is to be used for installation of the fascia shims:

Procedure:

1. Refer to the 1989 Cutlass Calais Service Manual 2C-5, Figure 7 and remove items 4 and 5 (grille and filler).

2. Remove the headlamp assemblies.

3. Remove the bolts/screws attaching the upper edge of the front fascia to the impact bar.

4. Lift the upper edge of the fascia and insert the shims as shown in Figure 1, using part number 22548960 RH and 22548961 LH.

5. Reinstall the parts removed above.
