There are three different length head bolts used on the 3.0L V-6 engine (VIN Code L). Head bolt length by location is shown in Figure 1.
3.0L head bolts are a new torque yield type bolt. It is recommended that new bolts be installed each time the cylinder head is removed.
SERVICE PROCEDURE
1. Tighten bolts to 35 N - m (25 lbs. ft.) in sequence shown in Figure 2.
2. Turn each bolt 1/4 turn (90 DEG) in sequence shown. See Figures 2 and 3.
3. Turn each bolt an additional 1/4 turn (90 DEG) in sequence shown.
